Properties and use of castdowels and glassfiber reinforced composite posts are presented on the basis of the literature. Comparison of castdowels and glassfiber reinforced composite posts. Basing on the literature different authors’ results of modulus of elasticity, aesthetics, durability, types of luting cements and possibilities of castdowels and glassfiber reinforced composite posts removing in reendo cases were presented. Strength and durability of tooth containing post depend on post’s length, width, length of the walls of the root, post connection with dentine, load of the tooth, supragingival structure of the tooth and type of material used for making the post. If the post is properly cemented, there is no risk of breakage during physiological loads regardless of material it was made.
