Today’s developments in medicine as well as widely practiced preventative methods contribute to the fact that patients in advanced age constitute a growing number of people requiring dental assistance. Wishing to retain their natural set of teeth, they require complicated dental treatment. In this research, selected, difficult clinical cases in elderly patients are presented and also a suggestion of preventive and therapeutic methods as a preparation for prosthetic rehabilitation of the stomatognathic system. Taking into consideration the following clinical cases, patients were divided into several groups: 1) numerous and extensive non-carious lesions; 2) pathological attrition of teeth combined with occlusion malfunction; 3) pathological attrition complicated by changes in periodontal tissue; 4) non-carious lesions and root caries co-existing with prosthetic crowns and bridges. After analysis of the presented clinical cases it might be claimed that the elderly patients, due to complex changes in the dental system, constitute a challenge for the dentist and the preparation of the treatment plan must be depend not only on clinical indications but also on their health and financial circumstances.
