Dental Forum. 2018;XLVI(1):89–93. DOI: https://doi.org/10.20883/df.2018.12. The paper presents current data on fluoride concentrations in tap and bottled water available in Poland as compared to fluoride content level specified by relevant regulations. The results indicate that consumption of the drinking water in most Polish localities does not carry the risk of enamel fluorosis, similarly to the use of bottled water containing usually low levels of fluoride. The results of fluoride concentration analyses in bottled water are easily available, while tap water providers do not always publish this kind of information on their websites. From the point of view of dental practitioners, pediatricians and dental hygienists, access to data on fluoride content in water is important for the preparation of safe fluoride‑based prevention plans for the youngest patients.
Key words: fluoride, drinking water, bottled water, fluoride‑based prevention.
