DOI: https://doi.org/10.20883/df.2020.15. Fibroblasts are the most numerous cell type in connective tissue. These cells and their extracellular matrix products play essential role in maintaining integrity of connective tissue, in healing processes and pathological processes. Despite numerous structural and functional similarities between fibroblasts, the differences indicating that fibroblasts are not homogenous group have been observed. Differences have been described both between cells from different anatomical sites and within localized tissue.
Key words: gingival fibroblast, periodontal fibroblast, skin fibroblast, heterogenicity.
