Dental Forum. 2024;LII(2):53–56. DOI: https://doi.org/10.20883/df.2024.7. Introduction. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a significant condition affecting oral health, increasing the risk of dental caries, periodontal diseases, and malocclusion.
Objective. The aim of this study is to review the approaches, challenges, and future perspectives in dental and orthodontic care for children with CP.
Materials and methods. A comprehensive analysis of scientific literature from PubMed and Google Scholar databases was conducted. The focus was placed on aspects of restorative dentistry, periodontology, orthodontics, and the use of general anesthesia in dental procedures.
Results. Children with CP exhibit a higher prevalence of oral diseases due to motor impairments, oral dysfunctions, and difficulties in maintaining proper oral hygiene.
Conclusions. Effective dental care for children with CP requires an interdisciplinary approach, individualized treatment plans, and further research to optimize clinical management standards.
