The article presents the role of onlays in modern dentistry. It describes the indications for this type of reconstruction and compares its properties with those of composite fillings and all-ceramic crowns. When deciding on the type of tooth tissue reconstruction, it is essential to evaluate the clinical situation and select the type of restoration based on its characteristics and the material from which it will be made.
