Guidelines for the Authors



1. The journal “Dental Forum” publishes peer-reviewed* original scientific works, review papers and case reports in Polish and English in the field of dentistry and related fields of medicine. It also publishes reports and abstracts of works presented at conferences, symposia and scientific meetings. The journal provides a forum for discussion on clinical and technical issues in dentistry.

2. The volume of original or review papers should not exceed 17 pages including the title page, abstract, text and references. Case reports should not exceed 4 pages.

3. The Editorial Council accept papers prepared using the Microsoft WORD for WINDOWS text editor using the 12-point “Times New Roman” font. The text should be written with double spacing and a 4 cm margin on the left side. It should be written in regular font only (titles in bold), without capitalized emphasis, underlining, etc. The work should contain full documentation (tables, figures).

4. The title page of a work prepared for printing should contain the first and last names of the authors, the Polish and English title of the work, the name of the clinic, institution or center from which the work comes, and at the bottom the e-mail address for correspondence. Starting from the second page, there should be an abstract in Polish and English (in original works – a structural abstract: introduction, aim, methods, results - up to 300 words), presenting the essential content of the publication, and below at least three Polish and English key words according to the requirements of international medical indexes (MeSH). Original works should include an introduction, aim of the work, presentation of the material and methods of the study, results and their discussion and conclusions. In review works, it is recommended to divide them into chapters and an abstract of about 150 words.

5. References directly related to the work, written in the Vancouver referencing, in the order their citation in the text. Journal references, written from a new line, should contain: surnames and initials (maximum two) of all authors, title of the work, title of the journal (in short), year, volume, number, beginning and end pages, according to the following pattern:

When citing books, the following should be provided: the author’s last name and initials, the title of the book, the chapter title, the publisher, the place and year of publication, the beginning and end pages of the chapter, and the source language. For example:

6. Figures placed on separate pages should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in the order in which they appear in the text. Captions under figures should be placed in Polish and English on a separate page. Illustrative material should be prepared: in JPG or TIFF format for photograph. PDF or CorelDraw for tables and charts.

7. Tables marked with Arabic numerals in accordance with the citation in the text should be placed on separate pages. The table numbering, caption, and any explanations should be placed above it.

8. Only standard abbreviations and the author’s abbreviations ( with the full form when first mentioned) should be used in the text.

9. The condition for manuscript publication is the author’s declaration that the work has not been published or submitted to another publishing house. Work originating from a research institute or other institution should have the consent of the head of institution for its publication.

10. The editors require a written declaration from the authors of the publication confirming the reliability and honesty of the presented research results, which counteracts cases of “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship”. The declaration should include: the percentage contribution of individual authors to the creation of the publication with their affiliation and contribution (information who is the author of the concept, assumptions, methods, etc.), information on the sources of financing, the contribution of scientific and research institutions, associations and other entities (financial disclosure).

11. The Editorial Council reserved the right to make necessary stylistic corrections, reduce the volume or not to include the submitted materials – at the discretion of the Editorial Board. It also reserves the right to publish the work within the deadline specified by the Editorial Council.

12. Manuscripts accepted for publication and peer-reviews become the property of the Editorial Council.
