Out of all endocrine diseases, acromegaly is characterized by significant changes in the craniofacial area within both the bone structures and soft tissues. Correct diagnosis of acromegaly is often delayed for a period of 6 up to even 12 years due to non‑specific and slowly developing symptoms [1–3].This long period causes the development of highly advanced abnormalities. In the craniofacial area, a particularly burdensome disorder with regard to prosthethic treatment is mandibular hyperplasia, which, like other skeletal changes, is irreversible. An enlarged and protruded mandible with all its complications – changed features due to the protruded chin, a higher range of the lower arch disproportional to the upper one, and interdental spaces between incisors – poses considerable difficulties during prosthodontic treatment. In this paper we present two cases of patients with active acromegaly prosthodontically treated in the Gerostomatology Department.

Key words: acromegaly, mandible, prosthodontic treatment.
