Introduction. Malocclusion, disfunctions of the temporomandibular joint, speech impediments, tongue action disorder and faulty posture might demonstrate a correlation with aesthetic changes in facial appearance. Curing such changes can be effectively facilitated by physiotherapeutic treatment with application of methods such as: Castillo Morales® method, deep tissue massage (trigger points), postural reeducation, or temporomandibular joint mobilization. Aim. The aim of this paper is to present a physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient with disfunctions of the chewing apparatus, aimed at improving occlusion and aesthetic appearance of the face. Material and methods. The paper uses the case study method. The patient was a 10-year‑old male with innate double‑curve scoliosis with cuneiform vertebrae in sections Th7-Th8 and Th12-L1, a significant facial asymmetry, and speech impediments, who was treated with Castillo Morales® method, deep tissue massage (trigger points), postural reeducation, and temporomandibular joint mobilization therapy in order to imrove the chweing and speech apparatus, posture, and facial aesthetics. Results and summary. The use of comprehensive physiotherapeutic treatment resulted in improvement in occlusion alignment, and consequently in betterment of facial aesthetics of the patient. Additionally, improvement of pronunciation was obtained (better focus and a significant improvement in the technique of reading out loud), as well as equalisation of vision deffect (at present up to symetrical +4,75 in both eyes).

Key words: facial aesthetics, physiotherapy, masticatory system, posture defects.
